Local hotels

Here are your main choices of accomodation, ordered from near-to-far with respect to the main conference venues, which are the CCIS North Lecture Halls (Main meeting) and the Lister Conference Centre (Tutorials and Banquet). These two venues are about a 10-minute walk from each other through the University campus. All prices are in Canadian dollars (1 CAD = .80 USD) and do not include taxes (these rates are not guaranteed; you may be able to get different ones after contacting the hotels). The maps at the bottom of this page should give you a sense of the distances and locations. Send updates to rich@richsutton.com.

Downtown Hotels

There is a large number of hotels in downtown Edmonton easily accessible from the University by subway. The map at the bottom of this page shows the spatial layout of a cluster of these hotels, just across the river and along the subway line (the subway stations are shown in blue). This map was obtained by the google query “hotels near University of Alberta”, from which you can obtain further information on these hotels. All of them should be a short subway ride, for $2.75, to the University station, which is maybe a 6-minute walk from conference venues. As an example, one of the closest downtown hotels is the Matrix:

A finer grained map useful for navigating on campus between the venues is available here.
